Recall Junction was created by concerned parents who were overwhelmed with tracking and keeping up-to-date on product recalls. Government sites, while very usefull, lacked the "ease of use" of modern websites. Too many sites, too much information, and too hard to find relevant information on product recalls in one place - let alone nowhere to help find safe replacement suggestions. The site wasn't created to replace the functionality of the government websites, but to enhance coverage and awareness of product recalls, give an all-in-one location for product recalls, and to create a community of concerned parents who could share knowledge, tips, and suggestions.
