The parachutes can become entangled in overhead power lines causing a shock hazard to users and bystanders.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Scientific LLC, of Columbus, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 87,000 Magnets. Surface paint on the magnets can contain high levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Flame Inc., of Fort Wayne, Ind., is voluntarily recalling about 12,000 Fireplace Gas Valves. Gas can continue to flow into the fireplace pilot light area after the switch has been turned “off,” posing a fire or explosion hazard to consumers.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Honda Motor Co. Inc., of Torrance, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 1,400 Model Year 2008 Honda TRX500 ATVs. The electric power steering shaft of the recalled ATVs could break unexpectedly, resulting in the rider’s losing steering control. This poses a risk of injury or death to riders.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kyodo America Industries Co. LTD., of Lawrenceville, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 530 LawnBott Lawn Mowers. The cutting blades continue to rotate when the mower is lifted from the ground and the spacing on the side of the lawn mower could allow room for a consumer’s foot to go beyond the shield and be struck by the blade. Both instances pose a serious laceration hazard to consumers.

Bay Valley Foods is recalling 535 cases of America’s Choice Classic Caesar Dressing because some of the bottles produced in February 2008 have an incorrect ingredient label on the back of the bottle. The incorrect label on the back includes ingredient and nutrition information for Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing and does not declare the presence of fish, soy and wheat. Consumers who have allergies to fish, soy and wheat run the risk of a serious or life threating allergic reaction if they consume the mislabeled product.

At a Town Hall Meeting held at the Mall of America, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Acting Chairman Nancy Nord met with parents and consumers to listen to their concerns and talk about safety in the home. Acting Chairman Nord briefed consumers on CPSC’s plan to increase staff to pursue consumer product hazards more aggressively. CPSC will be adding staff across the country, creating a new early warning system, and educating foreign manufacturers about US safety regulations.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Honda Motor Co., Inc. of Torrance, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 40,000 Model Year 2007 Honda TRX 500 ATVs. Water can enter the throttle position sensor and freeze, causing permanent damage if the rider forces the throttle lever. This could cause the throttle to stick open, posing a risk of injury or death to riders.

The cutting blades could rotate under power when the control lever is released. The lawn mowers do not comply with mandatory federal safety standards for lawn mowers. The spinning blade poses a serious laceration hazard to consumers.
