In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hayes Bicycle Group, of Mequon, Wis., is voluntarily recalling about 800 SunRinglé Hollow Quick Release Devices for Bicycles. The quick release devices can unexpectedly fail or break when locked in position on the bicycle, causing the rider to lose control, which poses a serious fall hazard.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Pacific Cycle Inc., of Madison, Wis., is voluntarily recalling about 7,000 InStep “Pathfinder,” Schwinn “Run About,” and Mongoose “Alley Cat” Trailer Bicycles. The coupler connecting the children’s trailer bike to the adult’s bicycle has welds that can fail, posing a fall hazard to children.

The helmets fail testing required under CPSC's safety standard for bicycle helmets. This can pose a head injury hazard to riders in a fall.

The fork tips could separate from the fork legs, causing the wheel to come loose from the fork while riding. This could pose a serious fall hazard to riders.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), M2Racer LLC, of Burlingame, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 150 Conventional and Integrated Lite Headsets. The headsets mount to bicycle frames and fasten to the front fork assembly. A protruding component of the headset can contact the steering tube of the front fork assembly, score or scratch the steering tube, and weaken the structural integrity of the front fork. The front fork could break, causing the handlebars to separate from the bicycle during use and result in a crash.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Specialized Bicycle Components Inc., of Morgan Hill, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 2,700 Bicycles with SW Carbon Stem with Magnesium Faceplate. The bicycle's stem has a magnesium faceplate that holds the handlebar in place. The faceplates on the recalled stems can crack allowing the handlebar to break off the bicycle, posing a serious fall hazard.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), PTI Sports Inc., of Coral Gables, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 14,000 Schwinn Deluxe Bicycle Child Carriers. If the seat is not fully seated on the rack, the plastic guide tabs on the carrier can break. If these tabs break, it could cause the seat to fall off. This poses a risk of serious injury to a child seated in the carrier.

Product testing has demonstrated that these helmets do not comply with CPSC safety standards for impact resistance. Consumers could suffer impact head injuries in a fall.

The alloy frame used for these bicycles can be prone to fatigue failure. Frame failure results in the separation of the fork, head tube, and handlebar away from the rest of the bike causing a loss of control and crash, and posing a risk of serious injury to the rider.
