  • In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Shims Bargain Inc., of Los Angeles, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 45,000 “BabyTown” Pacifiers. These pacifiers fail to meet federal safety standards for pacifiers. The pacifier shield is too small and could easily enter the mouth of an infant. Also, ventilation holes are too small and not placed to allow for the insertion of a tool to remove the pacifier when lodged in the mouth of a child. Finally, the package fails to display the required warning instructing consumers not to tie a pacifier around a child’s neck, which would present a strangulation hazard.

  • In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Simplicity Inc., of Reading, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 40,000 Nursery-in-a-Box Cribs. The assembly instructions provided with the cribs incorrectly instruct consumers how to attach the crib's drop side. If improperly installed, the drop side can disengage from the crib, posing fall and entrapment hazards for the child. Additionally, the metal locking pins on the drop side can pop off, presenting a choking hazard.

  • In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bookspan, of Garden City, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 16,000 Discovery Bunny Books. The seam on the bunny's left hind leg can open exposing a plastic squeaker toy contained inside a cloth bag, posing a choking hazard to young children.
