The tea light candles have a clear, plastic shell that can melt or ignite, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Christmas Tree Shops, of South Yarmouth, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 15,000 Big Wooden Blocks and Jumbo Wooden Train Sets. Surface paint on some pieces of the toys contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

The snowman candle could tip over and the exterior coating on both candles can ignite, posing a fire hazard.

The red pompoms on the wreath attached to the beagle's mouth could detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

The lights have undersized wires which can separate from the plugs and/or the light sockets, posing an electric shock and fire hazard to consumers.

Blue Star Candles, L.P., of Lubbock, Texas, is voluntarily recalling about 18,000 Christmas candles. The 6-ounce, red Christmas candles are packaged in an 18-count box labeled "Christmas Candles." Each candle sits in a 6-ounce tin container. A label on the bottom of the candle reads in part, "Merry Christmas" with either a Santa Claus or Christmas tree printed on the candle. The candles have a cinnamon spice fragrance named Christmas Joy. Only the 6-ounce candle size is included in the recall.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Atico International USA Inc., of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 60,000 Christmas tealight candles. The wick is not properly set inside the tealight, which may cause the plastic holder to melt and pose a fire hazard to consumers. Atico has received one report involving melting of the plastic holder; however, no injuries have been reported.

The lights' wires can be easily pulled out of the plugs and light sockets. The lights could pose electrocution and electric shock hazards to consumers and could pose a fire hazard.

These lights have undersized wiring and lack over-current protection. They pose electrocution and electric shock hazards to consumers and also are fire hazards.

The Paper Magic Group, Inc., of Scranton, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 31,000 Christmas candles. They consist of a fragranced candle in a red and white "peppermint striped" ceramic candle holder. The candle holder is in the shape of a basket and includes a decorative ceramic handle that extends over the top of the basket. The basket is about 4 inches in diameter and the handle extends about 3.5 inches over the top of the basket. The name "Candle Illusions" is on the bottom of the basket. Drug and grocery stores nationwide sold these candles from October 2000 through December 2000 for about $6.

Alene Candles Inc. of Milford, N.H., is voluntarily recalling approximately 38,000 Christmas candles. The 22.5- ounce Christmas candle is in a ceramic container. It has three wicks and red wax. The ceramic container is decorated with an ice skating snow couple, and was sold as part of the "Snow Friends" Collection. The candle scent is cinnamon stick. Bath & Body Works and White Barn Candle stores nationwide sold these candles from October 2000 through December 2000 for about $20.

These Christmas lights are poorly constructed, have undersized wires, no fuse to protect against overheating, and the wires can easily pull out of the plugs. They present a fire and electrocution hazard.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Fay's Drug Stores of Liverpool, N.Y., is recalling imported Christmas light sets called, "Spirit of Christmas" 200 Super Brite Lights. The light's fuses in the plug could short circuit, possibly causing a fire. Fay's received one report of the lights blowing a house fuse. In addition, the electrical plug partially burned, when the lights were plugged in an extension cord.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today the voluntary recall of Christmas lights imported by Tech Mart Inc. of Houston, Texas. The lights, which may present a fire hazard, were distributed between October 24, 1994, through November 14, 1994, in wholesale and retail stores in Illinois, Georgia, Minnesota, Tennessee, Texas, and Maryland.

Four Target stores have reported overheated or melted extension cords attached to the artificial trees in store displays. Also, two consumers have reported similar electrical problems with their trees. No fires or injuries have been reported to date.

When CPSC tested the trucks, the drivers and other truck parts separated, presenting a potential choking hazard to young children.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) urges consumers who have recently purchased holiday electric candle lights (single bulb) to inspect their units for a defective light bulb socket before use. The unit is defective if the light bulb socket has tab contacts (gold or brown colored metal tabs or strips about one-half inch long) inside the socket and both tabs extend up the sides of the socket. This defect will cause the product to short circuit when the bulb is screwed in and the light is turned on. According to Underwriters Laboratories (UL), some defective candle lights may bear counterfeit UL labels.
