Aviv Judaica Imports and Ahron’s Judaica Recall Chanukah Candles Due To Fire and Burn Hazards

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Aviv Judaica Imports Ltd., of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Ahron’s Judaica, of Brooklyn, N.Y., are voluntarily recalling about 9,000 Chanukah Oil Candles. The oil candles can become engulfed in flames and melt the plastic cups holding the candles in place, allowing hot wax to leak out, which poses fire and burn hazards to consumers.

Description

This recall involves both the 44 count and the 36 count of Chanukah Oil Candles. The packaging is a red box with the following printed on it: "Chanukah Oil Candles With Jelled Extra Virgin Olive Oil" and "Distributed by Ahron's Judaica Item # OCCL-25/44."

Hazards

The oil candles can become engulfed in flames and melt the plastic cups holding the candles in place, allowing hot wax to leak out, which poses fire and burn hazards to consumers.

Incidents

Both firms have received eight reports of the candles igniting and the plastic melting. No injuries have been reported.

Remedy

Consumers should immediately stop using the candles and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or contact the firm for instructions on how to get a refund.
